Cenarius
Solutions
- Avoid brambles at all costs
- Clear stacks at 20
- Tank drake further from raid
- MD wisps to Serret. Stay away from Serret. Go all out on wisps. When second set of wisps spawn, Grump moves boss to opposite corner to drop thorns from wisps (20 yards). No melee on wisps.
- Bring 3 hunters. We need lots of ranged dps on this fight.
Questions
- Lily, are we using healing CDs correctly?
- Are dps holding back due to thorns?
- We need to ensure all dps switch to the Sister. Ranged switch after wisps are all dead. Melee when she is brought to the boss.
A couple more things I'll add from talking to a friend that clears this, not suggesting we have to do it this way, just what works for them:
-Only one healing cooldown is used for Stomp as the tree dies before he can Stomp a 2nd time.
-They have everyone switch to wisps and burn them down ASAP. Healing cooldowns are used here.
-Everyone switches to the sister and burns her down before she gets to Cenarius.
DPS is a really big issue for this fight. We need to have Jeeg on a spec that can actually do damage and people really need to step up on their DPS. All of the people that I have talked to about Cenarius progression say that they were killing the boss within 3 to 4 minutes. For us 3 minutes passes when we have the boss at 40%.
As for the thorns damage I have to slow my DPS down because I end up killing myself on the add.... Even without s2m I end up doing 420k dps to myself with my first void form.
Replying to Serret's post:
Thanks for looking that up (I told you my roots were bad, but I knew there were some others as well :P)
As far as the Drake positioning, I had not told them to tank in opposite corner, but that is one of the changes I wanted to make. Me dying to the breath was not their fault - I was barely making it that entire night as it were. Had there have been someone to replace me I would have sat. I died and almost died so many times to avoidable stuff - it was all I could do to stay alive. And no good luck looking in the future on that front - The migraines are only getting worse. Had one all night last night, and not doing that great today either. Hoping its clear for raid tomorrow and the next night. I hate being a liability.
And regarding Jeeg - if you guys want to try him in his regular spec we can try that. I think we can tighten up the bramble kiting as well and keep ranged on the left side of the room and run it in circles, it won't be so rough to clear.
Regarding the healing Cd's - we were supposed to be only using one CD for the Stomp, but its Link, so there is no healing in that, but we should still have hero rolling. Then we have 2 Cd's for each wisp set.
On switching to the Sister, the only people we had not switching to the sisters were some of the melee because it was so crowed for the scorned touch.
I also want to have the sister tanked over where we would stack for the tree, and I think the movement and spreading out (with ranged hanging left and back) will make the whole thing smoother.
I've been reading some more posts on tactics. We should consider 4 healing while also reducing healing needs.
I think we should not tank the Sister with Cenarius. Instead all melee will go out to the sister and help kill wisps along the way. Cenarius should be positioned to avoid thorns.
We should have 3 hunters to kill wisps quickly. We need more ranged dps anyhow. Also, more turtles from Brambles. Keep Jeeg in best spec.
Looking at this replay, I now think the Drake positioning is fine. If Inx tanks the Drake in the far corner, that will interfere with the Sister.

Another thing I found:
"WW Monks have the shortest CD to clean up brambles. They can just fly over them and remove them with their 20 sec cd on FSK", Brambles placed in a line.

Notice that the drake tank doesn't get external healing until 70 seconds into the fight and no dedicated healing until after the wisps are dead.

I've worked out most of the timings. Let me know if you see any problems.
Timings
Brambles1: 0:50 Illejr
Brambles2: 1:20 Zapdos
Brambles3: 1:50 Ash (might skip this one)
Brambles4: 2:20 Jeeg (on way back from sister)
Brambles5: 2:50 TGH (after push to phase 3)
Brambles6: 3:20+ Illejr/TGH/Serret/Whoever
Blast1: 0:30 - Serret
Blast2: 1:03 - Serret
Blast3: 1:35 - Grump
Blast4: 2:08 - Grump
Blast5: 2:40 - Serret
0:20-1:10 Ancient
Stomp1: 0:43, Damage Reduction CDs (SLT - Lily)
Stomp2: 0:45, Damage Reduction CD, Personal CD (SLT - Lewda, Darkness)
1:30-1:50 Wisps (HTT - Lily/AM/Tranq ... HTT lewda if needed)
1:45-2:15 Sister
Second pot: Prolonged Power for Sister will last through Cenarius push
Scorned1: 1:51 - Healing CDs (Personal if needed) Movement: Illejr/Zap Windburst
Scorned2: 2:12 - Healing CDs (Personal if needed) Movement: Ash Windburst/Shockers Wind Rush Totem
Stampeding Roar: Sister dead
Phase2 Cenarius 35% at 2:45

Spear2: Serret
Here are the healing CDs I found in the log above:
SLT (6 sec): 0:42 (just before first stomp, lasts through second hit)
Darkness: 0:46 (second stomp)
Divine Hymn: 0:49 (stomp recovery)
HTT (10 sec): 1:38 (wisp)
Tranq (8 sec): 1:42 (wisp)
HTT (10 sec): 1:40 (wisp)
SLT (6 sec): 1:45 (doesn't make sense based on replay)
TGH and I already talked about this, and I think he's been doing it when he can - I got that tip before we started Cenarius from a RL friend :P.
I really would like to pull the sister up to the front on the right hand side with the boss still over where wisps cleansing spot is. It shouldn't be too hard to pull the sister through the dragon, and if we push phase 2 while boss in top right, dragons would need to start bottom right to be diagonal anyway. But I think this is a minor thing, we can probably just leave the dragons the way they were.
The bigger point is, I feel we should pull the sister up front, and always keep the front clear of brambles by keeping ranged behind that line. As the first scorned touch goes out, the ranged can spread out where the black are is pointing up as well, to be in range, but keep space for melee to run out without running through brambles tracking. Then, after she dies, there is a clear path to run back to the boss after 2nd scorned touch.
This was our best attempt last night:

Here is the damage from Scorned Touch:
https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/hMnjB6Hqw1mTC9WJ#type=damage-taken&fight=38&ability=211472
Not a big deal at all, just a couple mistakes (melee clumped on Cenarius, Tasra and Suiqe hit each other).
It looks like Morrine stayed on the boss. I think this is fine.
Here is the wisp damage. Hunters did great! We killed them in a span of 18 seconds.
https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/hMnjB6Hqw1mTC9WJ#fight=38&type=damage-done&target=145
Here are the wisp detonations:
We had them spaced by about 1 second, between 1:41 and 1:46. Healers take note.
Healing CDs were pretty good. Lewda was a little early:
Tasra was a little late:
Belshift was right on time:
We should figure out spear CDs for tonight. We will use the big CDs for the start, to reduce movement as much as possible.
Here's a plan:
Spear1: Grump: BOP (Eire)
Spear2: Serret: SI + Barkskin
Spear3: Grump: Shield Wall
Spear4: Serret: SI
Spear5: Grump: Iron Bark + ?
